Clare Workman

I am a patchwork and quilting teacher and designer based in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park in Scotland.

I ran my own textile arts business- Thistle Threads Creative Textile Arts and Crafts Studio for 15 years until 2015 ,from my studio on our small farm, teaching a wide range of textile arts and crafts. As well as regular one day workshops in various textile topics ,from one patchwork evening class per week before long I was teaching 5 patchwork classes each week as students came...and so many stayed !

I have also been teaching Patchwork and Quilting Activity Holidays at Gartmore House for 11 years, which I continue to do -and I thoroughly enjoy meeting guests from all over the world and creating relaxed but creative, friendly, busy patchwork and quilting holidays for all levels of experience. Many guests return year after year and make firm friends as well as quilts!

I have exhibited widely in the past but now focus most on teaching and spreading the joy of patchwork and quilting.

I also studied Millinery in Glasgow and London and set up and ran my own business Clare Workman Designer Milliner for 12 years until 2014 when after working 7 days a week for several years with both businesses together,I decided to adjust my work/life balance and sold that business on.

Now I enjoy more time to design and make quilts for myself and the family ,to travel and refresh my inspiration and still have the fun of teaching at Gartmore House (http://www.gartmorehouse.com) and at invitation all over the world.
